  • What can be done for The Courtyards at Hayden Run to get safe pedestrian access to Avery/Hayden Run. This would let us access downtown area by walking or bike without taking our life in our hands on Hayden Run Rd.

    Marla asked 12 days ago

The extension of the Hayden Run Central Ohio Greenways (COG) Trail along Hayden Run Road between Eventing Way and Avery Road is listed as one of our future projects in our capital improvements program in our Pedestrian & Bicycle Mobility & Safety Program (T-133). This project is challenging because it will require acquisition of land from private property owners, and it will require widening of a culvert or installation of a ped bridge where the guardrail exists on the south side of Hayden Run Road. So, while this project has been identified as a need, there is no timeline for implementation of this project.

As an alternate route into Downtown Hilliard (albeit less direct), when Carr Farms develops, the Hayden Run COG Trail will be connected to the west to Leppert Road and the Heritage Trail. This more circuitous route will get residents into Downtown Hilliard.

  • Why aren’t we considering a 50 meter pool and a diving well for our new rec center? Our three high schools and local teams desperately need one. We travel far and wide (and spend money) at 50 meter pools for tournaments. Why can’t Hilliard be that destination? Our local competitive swim team is in danger of being without a pool in our area. They also swim long course all summer. Our Rex’s &park divers don’t have anywhere to practice or take lessons in the winter unless we travel. I have no where to train for a triathlon without paying enormous fees. Please consider a 50 meter pool for the rec center. We (and our kids) need this so much more than a banquet hall and commercial kitchen. Thank you for your ear!

Thank you for your question. City staff and City Council have done significant research into the amenities to be included in our future community/wellness center, which included projected costs and benefits as well as seeking private partnership(s) to help with funding a 50-meter pool. The size and potential need for a 50-meter pool was an important part of that discussion. After weighing various options. it was determined that the cost of constructing such a large facility (nearly $30 million, compared to just $12 million for a 25-meter pool) and maintaining it would outweigh the potential benefits to a (relatively) small portion of our residents. We are still open to the idea of a public-private partnership to offset that difference, but as of this time no such partner has been identified.

  • I would like to know what reimaging Cemetery Rd means. Are you planning to take out homes?

    1738 asked 3 months ago

One of the key focus areas for the community plan process has been reimagining Cemetery Road and its role as a main gateway into our community. Throughout the process to date, a lot of suggestions have been made for this important corridor's future. The simplest way to answer your question is perhaps to provide you with a rendering showing concepts for land use along this corridor. The map below will provide some insight into how properties in various parts of the corridor might be developed (but that does not mean the City will "take out" residents' homes.) This plan has not been finalized or approved by the City, and there will be at least six opportunities for members of the public to comment on plans.

  • I would like to know why much time, money and effort is being spent to build new community facilities when we can't fill positions for the existing community facilities. I'm all for a new community center. I have lived in Hilliard for over 30 years and I think it's needed. But we can't fill positions for the community pools we have. So I'm just wondering????

    1738 asked 3 months ago

Thank you for your question. The new community/wellness center will not open until 2025, and we imagine the economy and job outlook will be different by that time. More important, though, is that the community center is a different type of operation than seasonal outdoor pools. The positions for the new center will be year-round, which will be more attractive to older residents than the high school and college students who work as seasonals at our outdoor pools. We also will be actively reviewing compensation and benefits -- many of these new positions will likely be full-time -- to ensure we are competitive in the market.

  • I have a number of volumes of Readers Digest Condensed Books. Although they go back a number of years, they are in really good shape. Would the Senior Center like to have them?

    JoanRG asked 2 months ago

Yes, the Senior Center would be happy to accept this donation! Just bring them by during weekday business hours!

  • Who do we need to contact to get street lights repaired (bulbs are out) on Leap road across from the post office. There's 2 out now.

Please submit a Hilliard 311 request here: https://hilliardohio.gov/hilliard311/

  • Which holidays cause a delay in trash pickup? Your Q&A session just says "Holidays", but some like Memorial Day don't cause a delay but Labor day does. Please clarify as we have a lot of confusion in our neighborhood and want to send a message to all. Also, do you still have the app where you can put in your address and get reminders about what kind of trash is picked up each week. I signed up for it but haven't gotten a reminder in a long time. Thanks

    mcour asked 11 months ago

    Hello,

Our apologies for the late response--your message got lost.

Only the holidays that fall on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday delay trash collection in Hilliard. The holiday schedule can be found on our website.  https://hilliardohio.gov/trash-recycling/

The City discontinued the trash app in 2019.

  • Can you tell me if the Brookfield Village Homeowner's Association is still in existence?

    denniswcpa asked 11 months ago

The City does not have record of an active homeowner's association for Brookfield Village.

  • The construction of gas station at Square at Latham on Scioto Darby has taken walkers off the current sidewalk. Forcing people with balance issues o to the grassy easement. People with canes and walkers and others have now lost a safe walking path. Can’t something be done quickly to return the multiuse trail to us?

    Jane asked 12 months ago

Our crews patched the path on Scioto Darby last Friday. If you have further questions, email Letty Schamp at lschamp@hilliardohio.gov.

  • Roots of the tree between the street and sidewalk in front of my house, 5522 Thorney Dr. has raised the sidewalk to become a step of about 6" and it's unsafe for pedestrians. Can you send someone over to make assessment and advice. If needed, I can take a picture and send to you if you provide an email address.
